Leading Fire Safety Expert joins BTP

We are thrilled to welcome Tony Bolder, who joined BTP as our new Fire Safety Consultant recently.

With an extensive fire safety and risk management background, Tony brings over 30 years of experience in the fire sector to the role, including over 27 years in operational and safety roles within the Fire and Rescue Service.

At BTP, Tony provides comprehensive fire safety advice for the firm’s high-rise building refurbishments and developments, guiding projects from pre-construction through to construction, including compliance with all relevant regulations.

Tony is currently working with BTP on several projects, including the landmark Advent apartment block refurbishment in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and a 12-storey tower block in Hyde, developed by Jigsaw & Casey.

In his role with Humberside Fire & Rescue Service, Tony played a pivotal role in developing operational plans for a variety of incidents, including high-rise emergencies.

After leaving the fire service, Tony established Prism Fire Risk Management, earning recognition as one of the few UKAS third-party accredited life safety fire risk assessors listed on the Fire Risk Assessors Certification Scheme (FRACS) register, as well as a certificated fire door inspector.

He is a national speaker on fire safety for a number of networks, and a contributor to the BBC, Sky News, CNN International and LBC radio. Tony Currently sits on the national council of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) where he contributes within the technical fire safety sub-group.

Tony also provides bespoke fire safety courses within the social housing sector all over the UK as an associate with Housing H&S Compliance Ltd.

His responsibilities include reviewing the building's current fire safety strategy and documentation, assessing proposed external wall designs, and presenting detailed findings and recommendations. During construction, Tony’s work will also include conducting due diligence checks and inspections to verify the construction's compliance requirements and delivering external wall review reports.
