Project Description

Delivery of 44 new affordable homes in Bolton

BTP Architects were appointed as architects on the recently completed Avenue Street development in Halliwell, Bolton. Delivered in partnership with Tyson Construction and supported by funding from Homes England, the project provides 44 new homes in a mix of houses and apartments, close to Bolton Rugby Club.

The design for Avenue Street has been carefully developed to create a welcoming new neighbourhood that responds to the character of the local area while delivering high-quality, sustainable homes. The scheme combines a variety of house types, from one-bedroom apartments to larger four-bedroom family homes, ensuring a balanced community with housing options that reflect the needs of local people.

The development includes 30 homes for Affordable Rent and 14 homes for Rent to Buy, helping to widen access to well-designed, modern housing. The arrangement of the buildings, together with thoughtful landscaping and street design, establishes a safe, attractive environment that encourages a sense of community. Careful attention has been given to materials, scale, and massing to ensure that the new homes integrate well with the existing urban fabric of Halliwell, while providing residents with light-filled, contemporary living spaces.

Avenue Street is part of Bolton at Home’s ambitious housing programme, which aims to deliver 1,400 new homes by 2026. This development represents a significant step towards that target, and demonstrates how collaborative working between housing providers, local partners, and the design team can bring forward homes that make a positive difference to people’s lives.
