In the Spotlight - Interview with Leanne Taylor
What is your role at BTP?
I joined BTP recently as an Architect in the housing team. I have a very varied role, from running projects and liaising directly with clients and consultants, to detailing, modelling, contract admin. There’s always something different to do every day, which keeps me on my toes!
What drew you to BTP in the first place?
I enjoy working for smaller practices such as BTP as there is wide variety of experience and you get to be hands-on in your role (including becoming a master tea brewer). It’s also important to me to have a healthy work-life balance, which I have working here.
What has been your favourite project at BTP?
Having just joined the practice, I’ve taken on several projects including housing and conservation. Each one brings its own challenges so it’s difficult to pick a favourite.
If you weren’t an Architect, what would you do?
An interest in art and design are the main reasons I took up architecture in the first place, so if I wasn’t doing this I’d love to be an illustrator or animator. Ultimate dream job would be working in video games or film.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I’ve lived in several countries and have an aptitude for language – I’m fluent in Swedish! For the past few years I’ve been living and working in Singapore and taking the opportunity to travel around SE Asia.
