In the Spotlight: Interview with Josh Pearson
What is your role at BTP?
My role at BTP is that of an Architect and has been since the completion (finally) of my Part 3 qualification last year. On a day-to-day basis you can find me developing projects, meeting with Clients and Contractors on-site or virtually and working with other professions to produce great schemes. Since joining BTP I have worked on a wide range of projects across a number of sectors including; conservation, tower block fire remediation and new build housing.
What has been your favourite project so far?
Over the last few years, I have developed a particular interest in conservation, so projects such as Wilbraham St. Ninian’s, Bootle Town Hall, St. Anne’s and the Cambridge Arcade have been amongst my favourites. Having said that, the complete refurbishment of Kingsway House in Warrington for Torus has been a really interesting yet challenging project and has taught me a great deal!
What have you achieved since being at BTP?
As mentioned above, my biggest achievement since joining BTP was the completion of my Part 3 qualification. However, since completing that, I have also attained a Diploma in Domestic Energy Assessment, become a qualified Retrofit Assessor and I am currently in the process of becoming a new build SAP Assessor too – No rest for the wicked!
What are your future goals?
I am hoping to continue my development at BTP with the aim of becoming an Associate. In the meantime, I am hoping to continue developing my knowledge of the ever-expanding Retrofit Development sector whilst maintaining and evolving my existing working relationships within the construction industry.
If you weren’t an Architect, what would you do?
Thanks to my Dad, who is also an Architect, I have always been interested in the built environment. So I think if wasn’t an Architect, I would still have been involved in the construction industry in some capacity.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
In my spare time away from my desk, I enjoy playing football, keeping fit in the gym, cooking and when the weather (and my annual leave) permits it, skiing with friends, family and colleagues. Over the years I have skied in a number of different countries and I’m always looking to explore new mountains and resorts.
