In the Spotlight: Interview with Henar Palomar
What is your role at BTP?
I joined BTP earlier this year as an Architect and my role involves designing, detailing and modelling amongst other things. During my career, I have worked on a variety of projects including housing, conservation and master planning.
What drew you to BTP in the first place?
My aim was to work in a company with a wide range of different sectors. I also wanted to work at an established company with years of experience in conservation and sustainability. Most importantly I wanted a nice working environment. After some research about the company and the job interview, I felt this really was the place I wanted to be.
What has been your favourite project at BTP?
All the projects I have been involved in offer something interesting and new to learn. One of my favourite projects to date has been creating a master plan for the Sale West housing Estate for Irwell Valley Housing Association. The project is challenging in terms of scale, but also exciting to see the massive improvement we can deliver to the residents and businesses of the local area.
If you weren't an Architect, what would you do?
It would probably be something related to arts and crafts since I enjoy spending time drawing, making pottery and designing my own jewellery (see image below).
What would someone be surprised to know about you.
I love making jewellery. I have been attending a course in jewellery design at the Northenden Campus. One day I'd love to make and sell my own jewellery.
