BTP designs 40 new affordable homes in Scarisbrick

A new residential development on Southport Road, Scarisbrick is set to bring 40 much needed affordable homes for people living in the local area.

The Brook at Scarisbrick is a £5.5m scheme by One Vision Housing and is being built by MBE Construction from a design by BTP architects.

The development comes as latest figures show more than 2,600 people are on house waiting lists in West Lancashire. 

As the lead architect BTP has worked with One Vision Housing to create a design that fits with surrounding buildings and its rural location. The development will include a mix of 12 cottage style apartments for affordable rent, and 28 houses that will be available through Rent to Buy.

Kerry Schumacher, Project Manager at One Vision Housing, said: “This development will provide much needed homes for people in the local area and forms part of One Vision Housing’s current Development Programme to deliver 1,100 new homes between 2018 -21. We are really happy with progress on site and the way these properties have been thoughtfully designed.

“This new scheme forms part of our wider development plan to create over 600 new homes in Sefton, Liverpool, Cheshire and West Lancashire in the next five years.”

Vicky Saunders, Managing Director of BTP Architects said: “As the site of this development is on green belt land we worked really closely with planners to meet their requirements. The result is we have designed a scheme that ensures provision of plenty of green space, including a courtyard, and is in keeping with the rural surrounds.

“We took a thoughtful approach to the design of each individual home to ensure these will be a joy  for residents to move into; for example by making sure furniture will easily fit in. It’s great to see work well underway on site and we are really looking forward to seeing the finished development early next year.”

Set for completion in early 2019, the modern, high-quality scheme comprises 17 three bed houses and 11 two bed houses for Rent to Buy and 12 two bed cottage flats for affordable rent.
