BTP-designed housing development unveiled in Scarisbrick
A new residential development, called The Brook has recently been completed, bringing 40 much needed affordable homes for older people living in Scarisbrick.
The £5.5m scheme on Southport Road from One Vision Housing was designed by BTP and was built by MBE Construction.
As the lead architect BTP worked with the Registered Provider to create a design for the scheme that worked harmoniously with surrounding buildings and its rural location. The development includes a mix of 28 houses for shared ownership and rent-to-buy and 12 cottage style apartments for affordable rent.
The development has received lots of interest as it provides well designed, spacious and affordable homes in the popular location of Scarisbrick, where house prices make it difficult for local people to rent or buy a house.
Vicky Saunders, Managing Director of BTP Architects, said: “As the development was in a small rural village, we worked really closely with planners to meet their requirements.
“The result is we have designed a scheme that ensures provision of plenty of green space, including a courtyard, and is in keeping with the rural surrounds.
“We took a thoughtful approach to the design of each individual home to ensure these will be a joy for residents to move into, for example by making sure furniture will easily fit in. It is great to see the completed houses looking so fantastic and so much local interest being shown in the development.’
“It’s great to see the completed development and so much interest being shown in the homes on offer.”
