18 New Build Affordable Housing Flats on Site of Former Public House
BTP's brief was to design 18 new apartments for client Southway Housing Trust to address the growing demand for smaller homes in South Manchester. Built on the site of the former Ladybarn pub, BTP has designed an inspiring living space which complements the surrounding Withington residential area.
The Talbot Court development was an exemplar scheme for community involvement, with residents given the opportunity to engage in the early design of the development. A number of workshops and consultations were held to engage residents and capture their opinions and involve them in the choice of materials. The end result is a wonderful building that the community can be proud of, as they actively contributed towards the design. BTP’s process to actively consider the wider community has also meant that there were few complaints or problems during the construction stage as local residents felt their voices were heard through which we gained their support for the project.
