Project Description

One of the first new council housing developments in the country

We acted as architects and project managers on this scheme to provide 10 new two-storey houses and 42 apartments on two brownfield sites.

Key Features

  • Leading the design team and providing project management on site to deliver the homes on time, within budget and to an excellent quality.
  • Establishing a clear Client Brief. This was particularly important as this development was one of the first council developments in thirty years.
  • Designing houses compliant with the requirements for all funding stakeholders, for example, HCA, Code for Sustainable Homes, Lifetime Homes and Building for Life.
  • Identifying risks to the project, innovating and mitigating those risks. For example: Japanese knot weed; poor ground due to mining; obstructions in the ground and surface water solution.
  • Establishing pragmatic, sustainable and solutions focused house types which are easy for tenants to live in.
  • Delivering less carbon emissions and waste.
  • Supporting the local authority to realise the benefits of quality houses by adding value.
  • Provides low maintenance and low life cycle costs.
