Design and delivery of nine affordable homes on a small in-fill site in Fallowfield.
BTP were project architects on a scheme to design and deliver nine affordable homes on vacant piece of land near the Fallowfield Loop in Manchester. Comprising five modern 3-bedroom homes for shared ownership and four apartments for affordable rent, the scheme has provided much needed affordable housing for local residents. This was a challenging scheme on Flood Zone 2, which necessiciated lifting the foundations of the properites. There was also a 40 inch water main immediatley adjacent to the site from the Lake District, serving the whole of Manchester. This necessitated careful monitoring points working closely with United Utilities.
Located at the end of a cul-de-sac on an in-fill site within an existing housing estate, we consulted with the local community to ensure the new development fitted harmoniously in with the surrounding properties with sufficient access provision.
