Are you ready for SHDF Wave 3?

The Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) is set to transform energy efficiency in social housing across England. Wave 3 is poised to be the largest and most ambitious funding commitment yet, with £1.25 billion available for Local Authorities, Registered Providers, and other social housing providers to upgrade and enhance their properties.

Headline Proposals:
💰 Funding and Timescales: £1.25bn of funding available within a delivery window from April 2025 to March 2028.
🙏 New Application Routes: Wave 3 introduces the Challenge Fund and Strategic Partnerships as new pathways to access funding.
🏡 Cost Cap Flexibility: No increase in the cost cap (up to £7,500 per property), which can be averaged across multiple homes in an application, providing greater flexibility in budgeting and planning.
💰 Extra Funding for Low Carbon Heating: An additional £7,500 grant funding cap is available for low carbon heating measures in homes off the gas grid.
😎 Decarbonisation: For homes on the gas grid, up to 10% of homes in an application can access a £20,000 grant per home to install low carbon heating measures, instead of the usual £7,500 cap.
🏘 Minimum Number of Homes: Small social housing landlords (owning or managing fewer than 1000 homes) can apply with fewer than 100 homes.

ℹ Further Information: Advice and guidance regarding the application process is available via the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) free RISE support service https://riseretrofit.org.uk/.
